My mum and I are very different people. During my teens and early adult years, we seldom see eye-to-eye on a lot of issues. It was pretty challenging during that period even for the rest of the family with us constantly at each other's throats.
But there are some amazing qualities about my mum that I can never deny and she is one of the people that inspire me a lot in life.
My mum is one of the most hardworking people I know. She seldom takes MC or leave and takes her job very seriously. To provide for the family, she did what she could to improve herself constantly and upgrade herself. Even now that she is retired, she sells baked goods on occasion like Hari Raya and will be busy pottering in her garden. She could managed a household, job and kids at 35. I struggle to get my life in order at 37.
She is also a very strong woman. Having to go through what she went through, I doubt I could do what she did. The strength to go through the difficult and tough period in her life while raising 3 children practically all alone is really something. And today, I do regret giving her such a difficult time during my younger days when she was facing such a horrible time in her life.
Even today, she never blamed me for the things I did and chose to love me instead. This show her compassion and her willingness to forgive others.
I could never be half the woman that she is. And that's fine. I am always going to aspire to have her strength, her passion for hard work and her forgiving heart.
Above all, I am thankful that she is my mum. She made me the woman I am today. The person who always tries to better herself every single day. Thanks mum for always encouraging and inspiring me.
