Struggle...
It is an everyday thing for most of us.
Struggle to wake up in the morning.
Struggle to get through the commute to work or to school.
Struggle to get through the day.
Struggle to be a better person.
Struggle to always do the right thing.
Struggle to juggle the multiple roles we have in life.
I face one major struggle on daily basis. And it is a crazy internal struggle for me.
Managing my time
The struggle is real. I plan and I plan and I plan. But sometimes when things crop up or I am feeling tired or lazy and my schedule gets haywire, I totally lose momentum and the next few weeks will be me zoning out or trying to get back on schedule.
I read many books and articles on how to manage my time and maximising them. The tips and techniques are great and useful. But it is not the tips and techniques which are the problem. It is me. I incorporated them into my life and my energy needs some working on.
I struggle to keep my energy up to maintain the schedule that I set for myself. It is horrible how I fail so badly at this. Sometimes I look around and see other people going non-stop with their daily chores, juggling work, home, kids and so much more. And me, I can't even handle simple stuffs.
Now, my main aim is to increase my energy levels. And I found a wonderful way to do that.
YOGA!
It is helping me with my backaches, my core muscles and my energy levels. I am a bit more energetic than usual and I am getting things done! It is a "slowly but surely" process. I am willing to work through this struggle of mine slowly and at the end of the day, I am able to get better at managing my time and make full use of what is being given to me.
Before I end, I share with you a few tips and techniques that you can do if you have the same struggle as I do. Let's work through this together.
Here they are
Wake up early. This is highly recommended by many experts, books and articles. We must make use of the morning hours. To pray, to meditate, to read a book, to have a good and delicious breakfast. When you do take advantage of the morning hours, you can feel that you have more than just 24 hours.
Exercise. Recently, I read about an elderly man sharing his secret to being so active and fit in his old age. He shared that whatever we are going to do throughout the day, set aside an hour to walk, cycle or swim. Basically, get out and exercise for one hour everyday. It helps boost your energy, mind and soul.
If you are a Muslim, schedule your activities around the 5 prayers. Not try schedule the 5 prayers around your activities. Trust me, it helps so much.
Set 3 goals for the day. I set 3 goals that I need to complete each day. It doesn't have to be big goals. It can be as simple as washing dishes. When you accomplish the goals you set for yourself, the feeling is indescribable. And it will make you feel like accomplishing more of your "to-do" list.
Treat yourself. Remember that everything is a work in progress. You are a work in progress. When things don't go your way, stay calm. Get a treat and relax. When you are better and ready, tackle what you need to again.
No matter what you struggle in, remember to love yourself. Take care of your mental, physical and emotional health. I cannot stress how important those are.
So do share with me any struggles that you may have. Who knows, we can exchange tips and learn from each other.
