The other day, one of my close friends asked me who or what do I miss the most? I did mentioned a few names and events that I miss. But now that I have some time to think about it, they are not the right answers.
I realise I miss myself.
Don't get me wrong. I do like myself now. But I do miss who I was before.
I miss the innocence that I had. Believing that all is good in the world. That good things happen only to good people and bad things happen to bad people. The world doesn't work that way. Everyone has their good and bad and going through the ups and downs are part of the journey.
I miss the excitement that I had for the future. The tingling feeling as I embark each day with a plan to do well and reach new heights. I remember going to work and thinking about the changes I can do to be promoted. Figuring out ways to advance in career and life. Now I am where I am. I am contented but that feeling of excitement is a whole another level.
I miss the spontaneity. I love coming up with new stuffs to do. Doing impromptu things. Schedule last minute sessions with family and friends. Now I need at least 2 days' notice. I don't have the energy to do anything spontaneously.
I miss that girl. Yes, she needs to learn a lot of stuffs. Yes, she made many terrible mistakes. Yes, she needs to work on her attitude. But she was the one that leads me to the woman I am today. And I can't never thank her enough. As much as I miss her, that part is over. But she will always be a part of me. Always.
