3 Lessons I Want My Children To Learn From Me

I don't have any children at the moment. I do, however, have many students.There are 3 lessons that I will always share with my students and hopefully, eventually my children.

1. Attitude is everything

No matter how smart you are, if you are lazy, you never go far. You can do well in exams and get high scores. But in the real world, outside of school, the rules don't apply the same way. If you don't work hard or give your best, it affects your work and the relationships you have with others. Everyone can be smart. But being hardworking, consistent and having a positive attitude are important life skills.

2. Be honest, as much as you can

From my own life journey and what I went through, my advice is be honest. Life is so much easier when you are honest. Be honest with family, be honest with friends and more importantly be honest with yourself. Be clear with what you want. As long as you are transparent with yourself, you know what to expect from yourself and from others. BE HONEST! It will make your life so much easier.

3. It's okay not to be okay

We are only human. We have ups & downs. We have happy days and we have sad days. Happy feelings are always accepted. In fact, they are celebrated. But when we are feeling blue or angry, we tend to hide or suppress those feelings. Sometimes we are told we shouldn't be feeling the negatives because they are not right. It is okay to have a good cry and let out your feelings and anger. Take a moment or two to catch your breath, steady your heart and recover. It's okay not to be okay.
