Sharing a poem a month from our poetry book collection.

This month we will be sharing a poem from Love Journey.

and the story behind it.

During my teen years, I was so affected by what others say about me. I don't really blame them, though. Looking back, I was so insecure, very awkward and have pretty much no personality. I mean, I was a teenager and pretty much finding myself. It was what it was.

Then when I entered poly, the girls were brutal. Luckily I had strong support from my friends. It took awhile for me to wake up and realise that their words don't matter. Who are they to me? Why am I allowing the hate from these people override the love I have from my good friends?

At that point, my mindset shift and I became the person who is confident and have no care for what anyone have to say about me. Only certain people's opinion matter and they are the very people I let into my very tight circle.

Hold tight to the ones you treasure and cut the toxic and negative people. That should be the mantra of everyone!
